Lived Experience Advocacy Request
Psychosocial Support Special Interest Group - MHLEPQ
The Request:
Expressions of Interest close 19 January 2024
In the September MHLEPQ members meeting, members recognised the gap in services that has emerged due to the transition from the Personal Helpers and Mentors (PHaMs) and Partners in Recovery (PIR) programs to the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS). This transition has left some people without the support they require. As such, we would like to pull together a Special Interest Group of MHLEPQ members to explore what should be in place to support people who are unable to find appropriate supports in their communities. The Special Interest Group will meet a couple of times between February and March 2024, with a potential extension once initial work has been completed.
This is an opportunity for us to have a meaningful impact on the mental health support infrastructure in Queensland and ensure that all individuals, regardless of their circumstances, receive the care and assistance they deserve. We would investigate, in-depth, what supports are missing for people living with complex mental health in the community and discuss what an ideal service system may look and feel like.
Your experiences and insights are invaluable, and we invite you to actively participate in this process to make a significant difference in the lives of those who rely on these services. Your input could help shape the future of mental health support in our community.
If you would like to participate in this group, please reach out with a short paragraph about why you are interested in participating and some contact details so we can get in touch.
