Identifying Service User Perspectives Regarding Reasons Behind Increased Involuntary Psychiatric Treatment in Queensland - Griffith University

The Request:

Griffith University is seeking your invaluable insights from your lived experience to shed light on reasons behind the rise of involuntary psychiatric treatment in Queensland. Your voice matters in shaping policies and practices that uphold human rights and improve mental health services. We request you to participate in interviews to share your experiences and recommendations for enhancing mental health services. Join us in a safe and supportive environment where your voice is respected and valued. Your input will help inform policy-makers and drive positive change in the system. A voucher of $50 will be paid as a token of thanks and to compensate for their time to participate in the interviews.

‘This project will provide a comprehensive understanding of service user perspectives and experiences which will contribute to a mixed-methods project investigating the determinants associated with the increase in involuntary psychiatric treatment in Queensland following the enactment of the Mental Health Act 2016 (Qld). The project aims to also identify policy direction and priorities to align the Queensland mental health services with contemporary human rights-based practice in mental health services. It is anticipated this project will recommend strategies to implement evidence-informed alternative to involuntary psychiatric treatment in Queensland Mental Health Services.
